Check folds without over-treating
Look for moisture, redness, soreness and odor in facial folds and around the tail. Ask your vet for an appropriate cleaning routine and leave cleaned folds dry. Harsh products, frequent scrubbing or repeated home remedies can make irritation worse.
Itchy paws and skin allergies
Itching can involve environmental allergy, food reactions, parasites, infection or other causes. Document where and when symptoms occur and arrange an assessment. Do not diagnose an allergy from coat color or switch through multiple diets without a plan.
Ear and skin infections
Head shaking, discharge, pain, a strong smell or recurrent skin irritation needs veterinary advice. Do not place cotton swabs or tools in the ear canal. Yeast infection, skin-fold dermatitis and tail-pocket infection require the cause and appropriate treatment to be identified.
Interdigital cysts and paw infection
Swelling, licking, draining areas or limping between the toes deserves an examination. The phrase interdigital cyst does not identify every underlying cause. Avoid squeezing lesions or applying human medications; keep a record of recurrence for your vet.
Grooming, shedding and bathing
Both breeds shed and are not hypoallergenic. Gentle brushing and regular nail checks support comfort. Bathing frequency depends on skin condition and your vet’s plan, not a universal online schedule. Introduce handling gradually using rewards.
