Choose a ventilated crate that lets your puppy stand, turn and lie comfortably. Keep it away from direct sun and hot rooms. Never use a crate to leave a Frenchie in unsafe temperatures.
Begin with the door open. Place treats and meals inside and let the puppy explore voluntarily. Build comfort before duration, and do not force a frightened puppy into the crate.
Practice very short, calm separations while you are nearby. Increase time gradually and return before your puppy becomes distressed. If they panic, shorten the next session and ask a qualified reward-based trainer for help.
Toilet trips should follow naps, meals and play. Praise immediately after toileting in the right spot. A young puppy cannot be expected to hold on all day or overnight without age-appropriate breaks.
A crate is a resting space, not a punishment or a substitute for companionship. Repeated crying may mean toileting, discomfort or distress. Check the need rather than ignoring it.
