French Bulldog eyes, back problems, hips and urgent warning signs

Cherry eye, dry eye and eye pain

A visible red swelling, squinting, discharge or rubbing can have several causes. Cherry eye and dry eye need veterinary diagnosis; painful eyes can deteriorate quickly. Do not use leftover drops or attempt to push tissue back at home.

Back problems and IVDD searches

Spinal pain, reluctance to move, weakness or loss of coordination is not normal stubbornness. Suspected intervertebral disc disease requires veterinary assessment. Sudden weakness or inability to walk needs urgent attention and careful handling.

Hip dysplasia and joint concerns

Ask about actual parent screening and the puppy’s comfortable movement. A normal-looking walk does not rule out future joint disease. Your vet can assess pain, growth, exercise and whether referral or imaging is appropriate.

Vomiting, diarrhea and excessive gas

Brief digestive changes and serious illness can look similar early on. Contact your vet for repeated vomiting, persistent diarrhea, blood, lethargy, refusal to eat or dehydration concerns, especially in a puppy. Gas alone cannot establish food allergy.

Keep an emergency plan

Have the nearest emergency practice contact ready before arrival. Keep dated records and discuss changes promptly.
